If you've heard of IMATS before, Salon Melbourne is a similar trade show but includes all beauty
professions (hair, nail technicians, spa and salon owners) under one
roof and only beauty professionals can attend this event which happens annually. As a freelancer, it's up to me to keep up with current beauty trends, new products and tools as part of my own professional development. This year, Salon Melbourne was held at The Melbourne Exhibition & Convention Centre in the CBD. To be honest, this trade expo doesn't phase me, I go in and out just to buy kitty replenishments and this year I found that there were hardly any cosmetic stalls to choose from but nonetheless I did get a few goodies. The usual MUFE, Kryolan and Crown Brush stands were there but there was just nothing exciting this year until Donna Mee came on stage to do her spill on Hollywood Makeup Secrets. So glad I stayed an extra hour to watch her, she's probably one of the most experienced and honest makeup Artist I've had the pleasure of listening to, I would have loved to do one of her classes/workshops in Melbourne but timing just wasn't right this year for me. Anyway check out my pics from Sunday

Wanderlust adventures: Coconut Vibes, Hawaii
They say home is where the heart is and my heart felt just right. Hawaii, I loved you before I even stepped foot, this has to be one of my top happy places I've had the pleasure of visiting during my travels.
Here are my top 5 things to do while in Hawaii (but not limited to);
1. Hire a car and do a day trip around Oahu
2. Take a hike - so many volcanoes, peaks and trails you can do on any of the Islands
3. North Shore food trucks - You may have heard great reviews on Giovanni's Shrimp Truck but there's so much more on offer, you just have to look
4. KCC Farmer's Market - a good route is to do a sunrise hike up the Diamond Head then have breakfast at the KCC Farmer's Market, you're gonna need that fuel afterwards.
5. If you're looking for total isolation and relaxation - take the ferry from Maui to Lanai and check out their untouched beaches or stay overnight at the Four Seasons
So much more you can do but those are my faves!

Contouring with Anastasia Beverly Hills
I'm a massive fan of Anastasia Beverly Hills however I have only ever tried their brow products so when my girl came to me asking how to contour using the ABH contour kit, I was more than willing to help her out. As an artist who prefers to use creams and liquid to contour, picking up a powder palette definitely brought me back to the days I learned contouring for the first time. Refreshing as it was, I understand why it's confusing for non-MUA's to look at the whole concept of contouring and highlighting and be easily confused. Here's the step by step breakdown I did on Steph but you can apply the same to your own makeup routine...
- Base - Before contouring and highlighting I like to make sure the face is prepped, primed and based with your preferred foundation. As always, don't do it too thick as the cream contouring and highlighting will add another layer(s). Steph did her own base and used MAC Studio Fix Fluid in NC42. You can choose to spot conceal any blemishes or dis-colouration on your face, although I find that after contouring and highlighting you don't need to conceal as it is covered during the process.
